DeepEn at SfN 2025: Meeting the Neuroscience Community in San Diego

Visitors at booth of DeepEn at SfN 2025

In November 2025, the DeepEn team headed to San Diego to attend Neuroscience 2025, the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience (SfN). It is the world’s largest neuroscience conference, which brought together more than 20,000 researchers from around the globe.

For the first time, we exhibited at SfN and had the pleasure of introducing many visitors to microendoscopy as a powerful new tool for in-vivo brain imaging. At our booth, we shared how ultra-thin, 100 µm fibre-based microendoscopes can access deep brain regions with minimal tissue damage—enabling high-resolution structural imaging as well as fast calcium and voltage recordings.

The week was filled with inspiring conversations, curiosity, and enthusiasm from the community. We also enjoyed diving into the scientific programme, with outstanding talks by researchers such as Sheena Josselyn, Tara Spires-Jones, Marlene Bartos, and Christian Lüscher, highlighting just how important advanced imaging technologies are for modern neuroscience.

We also learned a lot about the logistics of shipping all the supplies needed for a big fair, such as SfN, across the Atlantic. On the final day, just before the flight back to Germany, the team had some time to explore downtown San Diego a bit and even visit the USS Midway Museum in the harbour.

SfN 2025 was intense, exciting, and deeply rewarding. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, ask questions, share ideas, and help make our first SfN exhibition such a memorable experience. We’re already looking forward to the next conversations ahead.
